Our Service

Emergencies can and often do occur outside of normal opening hours, when they do who can you turn to? Think of Keyvets as your pets A&E and NHS Direct all rolled into one.

The main difference and the key part of our service is that your pet remains within the hospital until it is ready to go home or be returned to your own Practice. We are the only hospital based 24 hour care provider to offer this.

Our telephone line is manned by our dedicated nurses and vets who can offer advice and arrange for your pet to be seen.

General Advice

  • If you are at all unsure always call for advice.
  • Always remain calm to reduce anxiety.
  • Bring any medication that your pet may be on with you including its packaging.
  • Move your pet with care, transport larger pets on a rigid stretcher like structure or a blanket to hold its weight.
  • Try to cover or wrap areas that may be bleeding and apply gentle pressure.

testimonials from our subscribing
Veterinary practices

Keyvets have always provided a first class service. Feedback from clients is very positive especially in those situations that may become emotional. We highly recommend them.

Adrian O’Shea, Clinical Director at the Avenue Veterinary Clinic, Kettering.

I have used Keyvets to support the Practice for out of hours for many years now and believe they are second to none. The facet of continuous care is critical for the safety and recovery of the pet and Im delighted they offer this service during the day in addition to at night.

Paul Houghton, Vet at the Rockingham Road Veterinary Surgery, Corby.

The provision of an Out of Hours service is very important, not only to the client but also the Vet, we need to trust our providers and with Keyvets we certainly do. They give us a level of service we feel very comfortable with.

Simon Maddock, Vet at the Cat & Rabbit Care Clinic, Northampton.

EUTHANASIA & CREMATION

When a decision needs to be made about your pets final moments we understand the delicate nature of this situation and therefore try to provide a service of empathy and discretion. We can help take care of the arrangements for your pet if you wish for us to no matter whether your pet departs whilst at home or within the hospital

Sometimes you may find that your pet has passed away during the night. If this does occur please accept our condolences and bear in mind we are here for you should you want us providing a friendly ear when you need it the most.

In these difficult times we can offer the service of accepting your pets body if you do not wish to keep him/her in your house. Just call us and our duty nurse will advise you further.

We provide an option of individual cremation. With this service we can arrange for your pets ashes to be returned to you in either a pot so that you may scatter the ashes on your favourite walk or alternatively in an oak casket with a brass name plaque on which we will have engraved an inscription of your choice, again just advise us and we can assist with the arrangements.

When you need us please call on 01536 516999

FEE GUIDE

Out of normal Practice hours and in an emergency you should first contact the Practice that you are registered with. Keyvets provides a dedicated emergency service for clients who belong to our list of subscribing practices.

Keyvets provides advice over the phone - we'll ask about your pet's symptoms and advise if you can wait until your practice reopens to speak to your own vet, if not then we can arrange to see your pet.

We extend our specialist Keyvet service to all but priority will always go to the clients of subscribing Practices.

Should your pet require emergency care, you will be requested to bring them to our hospital where we have the staff, facilities, equipment and medicine to administer necessary treatment. House visits may be available but it is generally in your pets interest to bring them to the surgery.

You will need to ensure that you have the necessary means of payment at the time of consultation and please do not be offended if staff discuss this with you at the time of your phone call.

Any client that is not a client of a subscribed Practice will be expected to pay the initial call out and consult fee on arrival at the hospital.

Our fee structure is as follows:

  1. VIP patients (patients who recieve an annual vaccination & health check at any participating Practice under the VIP scheme)
